My Approach

Burnout can be more than a problem to solve. It can be a signal that something deeper needs your attention.

My approach brings together psychological understanding, intuitive guidance and spiritual wisdom in a grounded, practical way, shaped by professional knowledge, lived experience and more than 25 years on a personal spiritual path.

A Different Way of Understanding Burnout

Burnout is often understood primarily in terms of excessive workload, prolonged stress or poor boundaries. These factors matter, but they are not always the whole story.

Burnout can also emerge from a deeper inner conflict, when the thinking mind repeatedly overrides the wisdom of the heart and soul. We can become so accustomed to making decisions through logic, responsibility, fear, conditioning or the expectations of others that we lose connection with what feels meaningful, fulfilling and true for us.

This does not mean the mind is the problem. Our capacity to think, analyse, plan and make rational decisions is valuable and necessary. But when the thinking mind becomes our only compass, something important can be lost.

For me, understanding burnout means looking beyond the immediate symptoms and becoming curious about what the experience may be revealing: what has contributed to the exhaustion, what may no longer be sustainable, and what you may need to understand or change.

Sometimes burnout is a sign that the mind has become our primary guide while the quieter knowing of the heart and soul has been pushed aside. It can be an invitation to listen differently, and to consider what needs to change.

The Mind, Heart & Soul

I see the mind, heart and soul as different but complementary aspects of who we are.

Mind

The mind helps us think, analyse, plan and make sense of the world. It is an essential instrument for navigating life and turning our intentions into reality.

Heart

The heart connects us with our values, feelings, meaning and what matters deeply to us. It can tell us when something feels right, or when, despite everything looking fine on paper, something no longer feels true.

Soul

The soul speaks to a deeper sense of knowing, purpose and connection. For me, this is where intuition and spiritual guidance can become part of the conversation, not as something to follow blindly, but as another way of listening to what is emerging within us.

The aim isn’t to silence the mind. It’s to bring the mind, heart and soul back into relationship, so that the mind can help bring what is true into reality.

Integrating Psychology and Spirituality

Psychologically Informed

Psychological understanding provides an important foundation for my work. It helps us make sense of your experience, recognise what may be contributing to it, and understand the patterns and pressures that may be keeping you stuck.

My professional training and experience allow me to understand the complexity of burnout, stress, emotional struggle and change, while keeping your wellbeing and the reality of your everyday life firmly in view.

We can look beneath the surface while staying grounded in what you are actually experiencing and what may help.

Spiritually Grounded

Spirituality is woven into my work in a grounded, accessible way. I draw on spiritual wisdom from a range of traditions and perspectives where it offers something meaningful to the work, including ideas around acceptance, self-compassion and finding a different relationship with uncertainty and change.

My own spiritual practice also includes a sense of connection with something larger than ourselves, whether that is understood as the Universe, Source or something else. Where it feels appropriate, I may work with angels or oracle cards as ways of seeking insight, reflection and guidance.

I work intuitively, responding to what is present for you rather than following a rigid formula. Intuition is not about having all the answers or asking you to accept someone else's interpretation of your experience. It is another way of listening, alongside psychological understanding, reflection and your own sense of what feels true for you.

These approaches leave space for your own discernment, beliefs and sense of what feels true.

For me, healing from burnout is not simply about feeling better and returning to the life that left you depleted.

FAQ

Is this therapy, counselling or coaching?

This isn't psychotherapy or counselling, and it isn't intended to diagnose or treat mental health conditions. My approach is a form of guidance and support that includes Spiritual Coaching and other modalities, bringing together psychological understanding, intuitive insight and spiritual wisdom. However, it is not a substitute for psychotherapy, counselling or medical care.

What do you mean by "heart and soul"?

When I use the language of heart and soul, I am describing the deeper aspects of ourselves that connect us with meaning, values, intuition, purpose and what feels true for us. It is part of the framework I use to understand burnout and the process of reconnecting with ourselves.

Do I need to be spiritual to work with you?

No. You don't need to have a particular spiritual practice or belief system to benefit from this work. What matters most is an openness to exploring your experience from more than one perspective and seeing what resonates for you.

What does intuitive work look like?

I work intuitively and respond to what feels most relevant in the moment rather than following a fixed formula. This may involve intuitive insight, questions or reflections, and sometimes spiritual practices or tools such as oracle cards. I use these to support exploration and clarity, rather than to tell you what you should do.

How do psychology and spirituality work together?

I see them as complementary rather than competing perspectives. Psychological understanding can help us make sense of your experience and the patterns contributing to burnout, while intuitive and spiritual perspectives can open up other ways of exploring what may be happening beneath the surface. Together, they can offer a fuller picture of your experience and what may help you move forward.
